An existing, 1951 ranch sits on an elevated corner lot, but lacked the space and style this family envisioned for their forever home. The design brief aimed to expand the home with a new primary suite and an indoor connection to the garage, but they also sought to redefine the character throughout, while preserving the existing structure where possible.

In addition to the new suite, this renovation reconfigures and enlarges the kitchen, adds an entry feature, home office, new laundry room, and a library nook. With inspiration from midcentury modern examples in nearby neighborhoods, we developed an entirely new vaulted roof structure to provide the airy volumes they wanted, with clerestory windows and roof monitors sending daylight deeper into living spaces and the primary suite. Custom casework is featured throughout the home, with detailed tile design adding the final touch to set off the new kitchen and bathroom.
